Only in Japan: "Super Mario 3D World" opens well and increases sales of the Wii U

The Wii U has had a tough year, with a few games at the beginning. But after "Pikmin 3", started coming more weight sets. And last week, Nintendo released a title of one of their biggest franchises: "Super Mario 3D World".

It was the third best debut of a game for Wii U, after "New Super Mario Bros.. U" and "Monster Hunter 3G HD". But it was not enough to reach the first place in the week between 18 and 24 November: the post was to "Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII" for PlayStation 3.

"Super Mario 3D World" is considered one of the crucial games for the future of the Wii U. Nintendo did their homework: the game is being praised, with note 94 on aggregator site Metacritic analysis (is the best game for the platform today).

However, all this quality seems to be not enough to make the Wii U a sales success, at least for now. The game Nintendo made the game sell 16 thousand in the previous "Super Mario 3D World" week to 21,000 the following week.

Have the PS Vita TV, a version of the Sony handheld for use on a TV, even had a good debut, 42 thousand units, but next week I dropped to almost 8000 units. Is too early to tell, but it seems that the platform is going to make success.
