The EA's exclusive deal with Disney and Lucasfilm about the franchise "Star Wars" will last ten years, said Blake Jorgensen, chief financial officer, on Thursday, during the UBS Global Technology Conference.
The businessman explained that future titles based on the franchise to be produced will not necessarily be linked to the films, ie, not limited to adaptations of the work of director JJ Abrams to the game universe.
"The beauty of the franchise 'Star Wars' is the fact that it is so large and complex that you do not need a game adapted films. You can create a game that is focused on the universe created around 'Star Wars,'" said Jorgensen.
The developer DICE, responsible for "Battlefield" and "Mirror's Edge" is responsible for the first project of the partnership: "Star Wars: Battlefront."
Another game for the universe
Apart from DICE, Visceral Games, the series "Dead Space", will also contribute to the game universe "Star Wars." Both "Star Wars: Battlefront", as the title of Visceral Games will make use of the graphics engine Frostbite 3.
