Amid rumors of cancellation of the Wii U version of " Watch Dogs " , Ubisoft has decided to abandon the trademark referring to the title of the game in the U.S. .
As stated on the official website of the Office of Patents and Trademarks of the United States ( USPTO ) , the company sent the body on Saturday ( 1 ) a notice of abandonment of the mark . The document was signed by the CEO of the production company, Yves Guillemot .
Ubisoft has six records for " Watch Dogs " in the U.S. relating to various types of products. The aborted , number 85642398 , is the main , because it refers to the use of the title along with games and software
In recent days , online stores have stopped listing the Wii U version of the game , and Ubisoft declined to comment. So far , the company has not revealed the motivation behind this new measure.
Originally , " Watch Dogs " would be released for PlayStation 4 , Xbox One, PlayStation 3 , Xbox 360 , Wii U and PC in November 2013 . A month before the premiere , however, Ubisoft has postponed for the second quarter of 2014 for unknown reasons .
